HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON – A SPECIAL PLACE TO LIVE
Hastings-on-Hudson is as close to being an ideal place to live as one can find – it is beautiful and peaceful, all just a half hour from midtown Manhattan.

Hastings view of the Hudson is unique, because the Palisades, a 550 foot high rock cliff, is particularly dramatic as the river is only about a mile wide at Hastings.

Also, Hastings has more greenspace percentage-wise than any community in Westchester. Much of this space is available to the public as both parks and trails. It is hard to imagine, but in Hastings, just 20 miles north of midtown, one can walk on a trail along the Hudson River for a half hour, marveling at nature, without seeing a soul.

Hastings prides itself in its strong sense of community. This is exemplified by the vibrant weekly Farmers Market (June-Nov.) and the many annual events, which friendly residents enjoy.

Although the number of commuters is large enough to make Hastings an express stop on Metro North, many people still work in Hastings. There is a large number of professionals and people working in the Media and Arts, but many other walks of life can also be found in Hastings. The shops in Hastings meet virtually every need there is a variety of food in stores ranging from a Health food shop to a Super Market, as well as cleaners, hair stylists, gift shops, and a pharmacy. There are also many diverse eating opportunities, including pizza parlors and delis, ethnic and natural food establishments, and an upscale authentic French restaurant.

One particular attraction of Hastings is the school system, where both the lower and high schools have won national blue ribbon awards. Hastings has also produced a number of Nobel Prize winners, including two who won in successive years just over ten years ago. Hastings has a broad range of community services ranging from a library to an outdoor swimming pool complex.

Hastings has a dedicated volunteer fire department and a police force, where the local cop-on-the-beat still checks each store on his evening round downtown.

Conveniently located as the closest Village to New York City on the Hudson, Hastings is just twenty minutes from White Plains, which is the center of Westchester County.
